How to Store Your Le Creuset Cookware

More often than not, storing your cookware is a daunting task as most kitchens are not equipped with enough storage space. Trying to figure our how to arrange it all so that your cookware is stored properly and conveniently becomes somewhat of a puzzle.

Although our cookware is extremely durable – from our legendary Enamelled Cast Iron to Stainless Steel, and Toughened Non-Stick – without proper care and storage, any pot or pan risks chipping or scratching. So to keep your cookware in excellent shape for many recipes and generations to come, we put together these helpful tips for how to store your Le Creuset cookware collection.

The Best Ways to Store Cookware

First and foremost, ensure that you dry your cookware thoroughly after washing with warm soapy water (both inside and out) before storing. Once clean and dry, place your cookware in a dry cupboard or drawer, ideally in a single row and not stacked if your space allows. When it comes to pots and pans with a lid, it is better to store the pot with the lid on right-side up, and not upside down. Lid can also be stored separately using drawer organisers.

If your kitchen has limited storage and stacking or nesting your cookware is the only option, we recommend that you use our Set of 3 Pan Protectors. Tough and durable, these handy felt protectors provide a soft, cushioned layer to help prevent scratches on your pots and pans when storing in cabinets, drawers, or on shelves.

Another option is to store your cookware right on the stovetop, on elegant open shelving, suspended from a pot rack, or on a standing pot rack. However, it is important that your pots and pans are kept away from steam and moisture and from places that may incur drastic temperature changes.

Cookware Storage Tips

Here are a few more of our favorite tips for organising and storing your Le Creuset cookware:

  • Be mindful not to not bang pots and pans together when storing to avoid chipping and scratching.
  • When storing a pot in the back of a cabinet, be sure to lift (not slide) the pot in order to reduce the risk of scratching the bottom.
  • If you don’t have our Set of 3 Pan Protectors, you can place a dishcloth, silicone trivet, shelf liner, bubble wrap or paper towels between each pot or pan to avoid scratching.
  • Should you need to turn the lids upside down for stacking, use some kind of layer in between the lid and the top of the pot in order to avoid scratches or chips.
  • Risers that are designed for cupboards and shelves are a great alternative as well and help to maximize the amount of space in your kitchen.
  • When purchasing a Le Creuset pot with a lid, keep the plastic pot lid spacers that come with the pot. These help to prevent chips and scratches on the top edge and also allow air to circulate inside the pot.
