Bakery-style sourdough, easily prepared in your Le Creuset casserole.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups flour (any type will do)
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup water lukewarm
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 30 ml olive oil

METHOD

Knead all the ingredients together in the mixer or by hand, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Rub olive oil around the dough (this helps the dough not to stick to the bottom of the bowl) and place in a cling-wrapped bowl for a minimum of 12 hours. Cover and allow the dough to proof and double in size.

Remove the dough from the bowl, flour the top of the loaf and score with a knife.

Place in a floured Le Creuset 26cm Signature Round Casserole.

Bake the bread at 200 degrees Celsius (no fan) for 40 minutes.
